Hi! My name is Henry Melo I am a certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator and Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator. I am a member of Positive Discipline Association (PDA). I have over 18 years’ experience working with challenging behaviour with children and teenagers including mainstream and additional needs between the ages of 6 to19 years. I work with families and in school settings. My areas of expertise are challenging behaviour, motivation, regulation of emotions, self-control, and training for parents. My approach is unique, realistic, fun, and effective using positive discipline. I provide intervention and direction to support your family with developing tools and skills to teach parents and children/teenagers about positive discipline and how it works. This is a method where parents clearly communicate what behaviours are appropriate, which ones are inappropriate, and what the rewards for good behaviour and the consequences for bad behaviour are. Positive Discipline is a program developed by Dr. Jane Nelsen. It is based on the work of Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs and is designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful, and resourceful members of their communities. Positive Discipline teaches important social and life skills in a manner that is deeply respectful and encouraging for both children and adults (including parents, teachers, childcare providers, youth workers, and others).
